Carol McIver, director of nursing at Life Care Center of Lewiston, Idaho, was named Director of Nursing of the Year for Life Care Centers of America’s Northwest Division on Monday, April 20.
The award was given during Life Care’s annual Directors of Nursing Meeting held at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee. It is given to the director of nursing in each of Life Care’s divisions who best demonstrates outstanding qualities in several areas, including customer service ratings, staff development and successful state surveys.
McIver has been DON at the facility for 14 years. During the meeting, she was praised for her commitment to the residents, dependability and clinical knowledge. She serves on the company’s DON Council and is sometimes called on to assist other Life Care facilities.
In the community, McIver is part of a coalition that works on making transitions of care smoother – for example, from the hospital to the nursing center, or from the nursing center home.
“Carol is a living example of what the honorable nursing profession is all about,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “She administers her God-given talents in a spirit of love and compassion to help make the lives of others better. We’re proud of her and all of our nursing award winners.”
McIver was selected from all the directors of nursing in Life Care’s Northwest Division, which encompasses 30 facilities in Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
Life Care honored seven other division winners and a Company-wide Director of Nursing of the Year, as well as a customer service winner.
